Nakasendo Trail
Hello everyone! This is Mio.
Today, I am hiking a section of the Nakasendo Trail.
The Nakasendo Trail is an ancient route that connected Kyoto and Edo (now Tokyo) during the Edo period. The trail passes through picturesque villages and beautiful mountain scenery.
The section I am hiking today is between Magome and Tsumago, two well-preserved post towns. The trail is about 8 kilometers long and takes around 2 to 3 hours to hike.
As I walk, I enjoy the charming traditional houses and the tranquil countryside. The trail is well-marked and offers stunning views of forests, rivers, and rice fields.
Along the way, there are rest stops where you can enjoy local snacks and tea. The hike is gentle and suitable for all levels, making it a great way to experience Japan’s historical and natural beauty.
The Nakasendo Trail is a delightful journey through Japan’s past. Please try it if you can!
That’s all for today. See you next time!
